Mr. Olympia: Musclemen fought in Prague for the bodybuilding holy grail
The Prague EVLS PRO is one of the most important European competitions in the world of bodybuilding. but had to do without the biggest star from overseas. The dates of the qualifying competitions were mixed up by the coronavirus pandemic, so many fighters qualified for the Mr. Olympia at competitions outside Europe. However, this opened up opportunities for competitors from the old continent in Prague. They were used by the Slovakian 120-kilogram colossus Michal Križánek, who arrived in the Czech capital in top form.
Czech Jan Turek (32) won second place, Hungarian fighter Béla Kökény (42) finished third. Superman also arrived Juraj Višný (85), the first Czechoslovak champion in bodybuilding, came to cheer on the competitors. who most of us remember from his role as Superman in Who Wants to Kill Jessie (1966). He remarked with a smile that EVLS PRO simply cannot be missed.
In addition to the men, the women also showed off their muscles, namely in the bikini fitness category, which was dominated by Valerya Fedorenko from Ukraine, and wellness fitness, where the Brazilian Mariela Carvalho won. Both also qualified for the women’s Olympia categories. Olympia weekend Mr. Olympia is an award for the winner of the competition of professional bodybuilders within the so-called Olympia weekend organized by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB). The competition was first held in 1965. The most famous winner is Arnold Schwarzenegger, who won seven times.
Slovak Michal Križánek won the main category. The Czechoslovak bodybuilding legend Juraj Višný (center) also cheered on the competitors.
