The gambling house Dreamlanda new space of 100 m² dedicated to the practice of video gameopens its doors to Rouen (Seine-Maritime) Saturday November 12, 2022. Located rue Saint-Eloi, this bright, very open and welcoming place is decorated with a green ceiling. It aims to satisfy all types of players, from the most competitive to those who simply want to have fun alone, with friends or family.
On PC or consoles
As soon as you arrive outside the premises, you can see ten state-of-the-art PC stations, with chairs for players and quality peripherals. “This is the configuration I’ve been using at home for a year and which I use to stream. I find it very comfortable and it allows you to run all the games. »
Each station is equipped with the different platforms of the major publishers, and everyone is then free to connect their game accounts to be able to enjoy any title. They are laid out so that two teams of five players – a format commonly used in esports – can face each other.
The console side is separated into two areas: one dedicated to recent models with Nintendo Switch and Xbox equipped with the game pass ; the other dedicated to retrogaming with Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2, Gamecube and Megadrive. “In particular, there will be double-dash Mariokart. I would also like to do small competitions speed run [finir un jeu le plus rapidement possible, Ndlr]. The retro room will also be equipped with an overhead projector and a large screen for tournament viewing evenings. »
Competitions with money at stake
The man behind Dreamland, Lucas Plantaz, is a real video game enthusiast, especially shooters and platformer fighting games. “I’ve always wanted to work in this environment,” he explains. After creating a game rental system, “a bit like Netflix in its early days”, in Tahiti, he returned to France with the desire to embark on new projects.
The latest is the creation of this gambling house. “I came across this incredible space for this project. Also passionate about events, he saw the potential for creating tournaments between players and viewing parties for major esports events.
Eventually, he would like to be able to offer weekly competitions with free entries and drinks, and why not a cash prize for the winners. “I’m looking for sponsors for this,” he says.
Syrup bar and starter at €5
The place will offer a wide opening range from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., seven days a week. “Admission is €5. As long as we don’t leave the building, we don’t pay again. I want to try to get people to find funding, find it affordable, and not be elitist. » An attractive rate may be added to that of consumption.
The menu offers many soft drinks, including a “syrup bar with water or milk”, and snacks. “I can’t cook in the room, so I followed what is offered at the cinema for food. I also plan to make sausage boxes, like the candy boxes where you weigh by the gram, with lots of different tastes. » Enough to have the necessary energy to last for long hours!
Dreamland, rue Saint-Eloi in Rouen, open every day from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.
