Where to go during the autumn holidays in Prague?

The autumn holidays started already on Wednesday, October 26, and most schoolchildren went on vacation with their parents. On October 28, the rest of the out-of-school children also have a day off from the state, as the whole of the Czechia celebrates the Day of the Independent Czechoslovak Republic. For the editors, we bring you some tips for trips around Prague for those who have decided not to leave their homes or for those who have chosen Prague as a holiday destination.
Prague ZOO
The Prague Zoo invites young and old to the autumn pumpkin feast. The program will include guided feeding and encounters with animals, zoos for children or tours of the new gorilla pavilion. On the zoopraha.cz website you can find the exact times of feeding and meeting the animals. The zoo, which takes place on October 28, has free capacity for now. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., guided tours of the new gorilla pavilion – Dja reserve take place.
Prague Botanical Garden
An exhibition of pumpkins has been held in the Prague Botanical Garden since October 14. On display is a large number of pumpkin decorations from the Czech Horticultural Academy Mělník, which is inspired by Celtic culture. On Sunday, October 30, the botanical garden has prepared a Halloween celebration from 1 to 7 p.m. On the program is the traditional carving of pumpkins, roasting of dumplings, the band Netřesk and the band Potokap will perform. There will be face painting for children and they will be able to try traditional Celtic crafts. The event will end with a lantern parade and a Celtic ritual.
National Museum
Even on public holidays, the National Museum remains open according to normal opening hours, i.e. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children under the age of 15 have free entry to the museum, the basic entrance fee is 250 crowns, tickets can also be purchased online. In the museum, you can see the exhibition ZeMě, which focuses on the sustainability of the world. It shows visitors how they themselves can get involved in taking care of our planet and the life around them.
Liechtenstein Palace
An open day will be held at the Liechtenstein Palace on October 28. Guided tours take place every fifteen minutes. However, each group can only have 20 people. Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The palace serves the needs of the government of the Czech Republic and is not accessible to the public under normal circumstances. Admission is free.
Skoda lounges
The first floor of the Škoda Palace in Jungmannova Street consists of five interconnected rooms. These premises are exceptionally open to the public on public holidays. The rooms were furnished as representative premises of the Škoda manufacturer between 1924 and 1926.
National Gallery Prague
The National Gallery invites visitors to the celebrations of the Day of the Independent Czechoslovak State. The gallery therefore remains open even on this day. The exposition 1918-1938: The First Republic is thematically prepared for viewing. Visitors can look forward to paintings and sculptures by leading Czech and foreign, and especially French, artists. Such as Václav Špála, Josef Čapek, Toyen, Pablo Picasso, Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh and others.
