Précy-sur-Oise: Angel and Eva in the running for the prestigious international dance title in Luxembourg
“The union makes the dance“. It is with this maxim that the Chor’é Sens dance school in Précy-sur-Oise is already celebrating its 30th anniversary. The school, with 440 students, practicing the discipline of jazz as well as classical or hip-hop and of course contemporary, prepares students to be gradually identified by the big names in the discipline. Participating in contests and competitions also means putting the assets on your side. In November, the previous school will be talked about internationally. On the weekend of November 5 and 6, two dancers will be in the running to win a precious title in the discipline of contemporary dance in Luxembourg. Thirty nationalities and nearly 500 dancers are expected. Suffice to say that it should not be missed. So Angel Lorien, who is not yet 17, and Eva Masse-Denis, just 18, rehearse and rehearse again with their teacher Marie-Line Lievin.
To prepare for the heart of Chor’é Sens, dancers can count on their teacher. Nothing escapes Marie-Line’s gaze. She is one of four teachers at the school. They can rely on about twenty volunteers, all dancers or parents of students. Their objective: to mobilize for the organization of meetings and shows intended to promote the art of dance in the territory of the south of the Oise.
To return to the contest of November 5 and 6. A technical test and especially a contemporary artistic test where the writing is designated to the dancers themselves, awaits Angel (16 years old) and Eva (18 years old). They must translate their environment on stage in front of a chiseled jury, with a professional eye and an impartial decision.
Ten hours of rehearsal per week
“We are playing a lot this weekend of November 5th and 6th. We put pressure on ourselves and there is reason. Now we are not at our first competition and this allows us to have a good experience in the field“, evoke the two young dancers.
To be sharp in your discipline, to obtain the best, to reach the highest point of the discipline. It is in this spirit that Angel and Eva rehearse for a good ten hours a week. Tirelessly, they carry out their sequences under the sometimes very critical but always very professional gaze of their teacher. Marie-Line is a model for Angel who also wants to make dance her job. So this competition is above all one more step to engrave for the young woman. For Eva, it is the passion for perfection. She discovered dance a little later than Angel, but with the same passion for perfection.
“There is a spirit in this dance class that we want to preserve at all costs. It’s a family spirit. Everyone knows each other and even if the competition exists, we must preserve our camaraderie. The students are all particularly welded. Some started dancing very early, others much later. Everyone should have fun. It is for this reason that we are proud of our two young dancers and we will all be behind them to support them morally in this difficult test, but so rewarding for the work accomplished.», evokes Christelle Huguet, president of the association.
To each his own universe
Angel and Eva are working this week to refine their performance. Both are in very different worlds. This is felt on stage and in the discipline of contemporary dance, it is originality that takes precedence. “Our only limits are those imposed by our bodies. And again, the mind plays a big role,” confide the two young women, ready to perform their respective choreography for the umpteenth time.
The CND Luxembourg, (National Dance Confederation) is organizing the 3rd European competition on 5 and 6 November at the Grand Théâtre in the city of Luxembourg. The European Competition is aimed at candidates who have obtained at least a unanimous first prize at the National Competition of a partner country in the categories classical, contemporary, jazz, character and tap dancing.
