In Toulouse, a new success for the Vertes
There are matches where victory should not hide the content. Laurent Mortel, the coach of the Division 2 Féminine team, recognized a lack of creativity and desire on the part of his team, which nevertheless won today. The opening of the score was made to wait until the last moments of a first period largely dominated by the Greens but in a sterile way. At 18 meters, Peyton DePriest took an attacking corner to open the scoring (Toulouse FC 0-1 ASSE, 45th+1).
In the second half, Anaëlle Anglais took advantage of a new corner to quickly score the break goal (Toulouse FC 0-2 ASSE, 55th). While they had to take shelter, the Stéphanoises conceded a goal scored following a corner kick (Toulouse FC 1-2 ASSE, 70th), to then suffer the all-out local players who were logically denied the equalizer in added time for an offside position. This success allows the Vertes to chain a seventh success in a row in as many days, and places them alone at the top of Group B, pending the clash between Marseille and Nice tomorrow Sunday.
Après le coup de sifflet final, on relativise aussi
The Saint-Etienne coach still saw the glass half full, at the end of the meeting: “My speech was sustained at half-time, because we lacked races, intensity, changes of pace and that prevented us from developing what we had worked on all week in training. But after the final whistle, we also put things into perspective. It’s a new victory that should not be trivialized, we were able to get it and hold it. We must not darken the picture, even if, after all the good things the girls have shown since the start of the season, we were entitled to expect better from them today. Everyone is well aware that we were not at our level and we are looking forward to the next game to produce better football.”
