The City of Lyon has set up an envelope of 12.5 million euros to carry out ideas that the people of Lyon have proposed.
On March 24, the City of Lyon launched the first edition of the participatory budget. More than 12.5 million euros will be allocated to create projects resulting from proposals from residents.
In total, 1427 ideas were proposed on the “Oyé!” platform. by the inhabitants of Lyon. All of these ideas were analyzed by the municipal services under several criteria such as technical competence, municipal competence or even investment. And from November 7 until December 4, those who live, work or study in the Capital of Gaul can vote to select the projects that will see the light of day.
The projects are diverse and varied. Some propose the greening of the new pedestrian part of Confluence, video surveillance cameras in Lyon 1st/4th or even an increase in transport in the west of Lyon.
For Chloë Vidal, deputy mayor of Lyon in charge of local democracy and accountability, evaluation and forecasting, student life, “this first participatory budget has shown that the inhabitants of Lyon would like to participate directly in improving their daily lives“.
