Un(change) now, for another Greece…
This text is written on October 28, which is an important date for Hellenism everywhere. Usually, for several years, on such a day I proceed to record some comments that revolve around our modern national constitution. This time I will choose to move somewhat differently, although I will again deal with the issue that concerns our national identity. This is, on the occasion of the actions of the current government faction, a palpation of the effects that (every) government style has on society itself.
Because from a term in which the “smell” of scandals of every sort is now as strong as the hostile to predatory attitude towards the concept of public interest, a society cannot remain unaffected. The dominant model that has emerged in the country in the last three years should not mark-poison-destroy the social subconscious. It should not be the desired, as a “model”, not even for a small portion of people. Because if this happens, only us. All of us. And the consequences will be seen in the coming years. It is not only the immediate ones, that is, that Greek society is experiencing firsthand, but also the kind of future that is being shaped from today itself…
For as long as I can remember, every government has left a mark that was “passed by word of mouth” and recorded for study by future historians. The four-legged and charismatic leader Andreas Papandreou in essence harmonized the Greeks with their real dna, because he gave the opportunity to almost everyone to release their being. Constantinos Mitsotakis and his government (which was quite logical for not being able to finish its term…) was remembered as a neoliberal (inter)government that looked like “a fish out of water” (completely out of place, i.e. ., with the political-ideological climate of Greece in the late 80s and early 90s). And that’s because he was “distinguished” for a bunch of anti-popular-anti-social policies, but without major deviations in ethical issues (except wiretapping…). And semiotic governance is described to this day with one word: “modernization”. That is, both seriousness, and rationality, and reduction of expenses, but also favoritism, and “massa good” for the (enlarged compared to today…) elites of the dominant order of things, and discrediting the majority of the popular masses, and a shift towards Euro-Atlanticism (with an obsessive focus on enforcing and consolidating the single-track “European single track”).
For his part, Kostas Karamanlis may indeed be hounded fiercely and in various ways by various foreign centers (as a consequence of some of his geostrategic choices), but his administration probably remained in the minds of many as a broken case, without a distinct stigma, where the simple processing pursuits constituted an end in themselves, “beginning, middle and end” at the same time. Plus some events such as the insurrectionary December 2008, which thus constitute other points of intersection in the modern Greek historical path.
For the subsequent governments of G. Papandreou and the Samaras-Venizelos duo, the word memorandum says it all and encompasses all the stigma of their applied policy. At a time when there was no time for ideology, only deadlines. Deadlines for the implementation of the “prerequisites” and commitments to all international committees. Regarding Alexis Tsipras and his own governance, a separate text is needed because the complexity of the case does not allow you to untangle it with a few pieces. And just the fact that it is a government of a left-wing party (not even a center-left one), which was forced to implement a memorandum for several years, says it all. For the previous rulers before him, the memorandum commitments were not so foreign and distant from their real ideological beliefs, while for SYRIZA they were completely (even if we take into account even the most “right-wing” parameters of his political views). Government of general good intentions in an environment full of traps and suffocating pressures, hardly able to fully cope…
How many have thought, and especially from the ND faction, what will remain in the social subconscious of what has been taking place in the country in recent years? Or do some think that the pretentious (and to a large extent unsuccessful) beautification of the military media will bring a result capable of helping the country and its social-popular body? The issue is not whether damage has been done, but how much, what kind, and how we can restore it as quickly as possible. I’m really sorry, but ND had the rare (for our times) opportunity to take power – even independently – and implement its agenda without pressure, blackmail and stress. Except that she too was bent by the real genotype of liberalism. Foreign ideas with neo-Greek “practical” methodology, which brought about a mixture of “God forbid” for the largest part of the population. Result; What we are experiencing today and we cannot hide with anything. And don’t have any prejudice, you will be dazzled by the events themselves and their sequence… In a time, in fact, when everyone considered that self-reliance was a past closely intertwined with the Post-colonialism and its many years of duration (for me this . ended from the very first second of George Papandreou’s announcements in Kastellorizo in the spring of 2010).
If some people think that the Greece of the future will be the Greece of the Patsids, the Lignades, the Stassis, the “thrown” journalism, the “juggling” judicial phenomena, and so on, let them get this out of their minds. No such overarching reality can be perceived within time. Because it is provocative, essentially anti-human and brutally violates anyone who strengthens the social contract. And in terms of material, and moral, and spiritual… And if this practice inactivates the resistances for a while because it shocks, then timidity mixed with anger comes, and it ends at some point… almost deterministically… in purification. Because if we don’t end up there, long live we were burned… Change now, for another Greece… The walls of the majority consciousness must be “filled with slogans” that will define the basic social tasks of the immediate future. For paints we can use our souls and minds…
Of course, in every such case we should investigate the developing style and find its causes. I personally believe that the neo-liberals in the country know very well that they cannot be elected long-term for domestic governance. Although the general climate, mainly due to the main directions of the EU priesthood, is favorable for them (since until now the lines were basically drawn by their like-minded people)… Thus, they decide to exploit the logic of “no tomorrow” . » the other intervals of staying “in things”, to gain as much as they can for their own benefit. And after the “poor” every prime minister has to justify the unjustifiable in the public discourse. Although every time the prime minister himself should control and pull the reins…
The world has now understood it very well. From the poorest districts to places where no one expects it (I don’t say such a thing by accident)… Today’s ND has put the individual interest of the very few above even the individual interest of the few… Even in Brussels got its (relative) grace, which is probably why the theft scandal took the extent it did… Let’s never forget, who and from where they moved a few months ago. In Greece and Europe (I don’t know about the USA…), those who understand that the political affairs of the country must take a different path are increasing. And they will get. Not with the logic of ripe fruit, but with activation and struggles. With right choices and smart strategy. With strikes (a big one is coming up in the next few days…), with exploitation of parliamentary possibilities, with vigor and fists. Because the social sensibility has been deeply affected and this is not something that should be ignored by anyone, wherever they are…
