Masare (Greens): We are replacing the incomprehensible disinterest of the Prague leadership

Comment on the Facebook profile to secure a delivery point for Food Bank Prague
For the second time in the last year, the Greens have joined forces with the Food Bank of Prague and the Central Bohemian Region and secured it in their Green clubhouse at least the first dispensing point in Prague next to the warehouse headquarters in peripheral Zdibe, which is very difficult to access for the vast majority in need.
“In this way, we replace the incomprehensible disinterest of the Prague management, which for a whole year, since the Food Bank started calling for help with a place, they have not been able to secure. It’s the second time we’ve done it together with the supporters,” comments Masare, a member of the Green Party leadership.

“Experience says that as soon as the information about the new place gets out, about 500 people come to help during one delivery window. Add to that their household, including children, and we are talking about several thousand people whom this helps in stabilization,” adds Masare.
Already the year before last, we managed to start promoting significant discounts on public transport for people in need. They need to travel long distances in order to be able to get help from the authorities and non-profits. Even the cheapest public transport subscriptions for ordinary passengers are unaffordable for people in need.
Allowing them the affordable use of public transport and thus not exposing them to the dilemmas associated with illegal driving, fines and other executions in cities is a great help, which is praised by both individuals and the Labor Office. Some of its branches in Prague proactively offer discounts to all clients.
It needs to be worked on elsewhere. Colleagues in Liberec put forward an even bigger offer. It concerns the entire households of everyone who is entitled to Housing Allowance. The introduction of similar discounts in other cities and regions is facing political resistance. We are closest to a shift thanks to the work of colleagues in the Pilsen region.
