Laurent Wauquiez’s controversial dinner bill increases to 150,000 euros
It’s a new twist in the sumptuous dinner affair of Laurent Wauquiezpresident of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. If the previous revelations advanced a meal at 100.00 euros paid for by public money, it would have ultimately cost nearly 50,000 euros, as revealed by Mediapart Thursday evening.
According to the media, the community would have indeed released this money for “advice related to the organization of these dinners during the year”. It is the company Mediafin, based in Paris, of Edouard Tétreau which would have been chosen to help the region. In total, the services would cost the region 48,000 euros including tax spread over two years.
A new revelation which confirms the suspicions of the regional opposition. While the community had justified itself to 20 minutes to want to “create great synergies between regional players and to support the development of the region”, the opponents see these dinners as “a springboard for a possible candidacy of Laurent Wauquiez in 2027”.
“Creating Bridges”
Contacted by Mediapart, Édouard Tétreau explains that he “conceptualizes and regularly co-organizes this type of event for companies and institutions” with the aim of “creating bridges so necessary and useful today, between the world of business, associations, culture, education, social entrepreneurship”. He also specifies that spread over two years, his contract earns him “1,666 euros per month on average”.
As for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, also questioned by Mediapart, it explains that it allowed the “recommendation of a concept including in particular: one or more proposed names, description of the methods of support for events, presentation of tracks of possible themes and personalities likely to be invited”.
