Under the patronage of Minister of the Interior and Minister of Sport Peter Beuth and Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann, TSG Nordwest 1898 Frankfurt am Main is organizing the International Sparkassen-Adler-Cup, the largest, for the 6th time #Children’s Judo Tournament Worldwide. On October 29th and 30th, up to 2,000 participants will show #Children and #teenagers from 9 to 20 years in the athletics hall of the #Sports and leisure center Kalbach in Frankfurt am Main their skills on 8 competition mats and under the watchful eyes of 80 judges on each competition day. 49 nations take part, including participants and judges from all over Europe, but also Kyrgyzstan, the USA and – we are particularly happy about this – the cradle of judo – #Japan.
The U13s start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and exciting competitions for the U18s are expected around 1 p.m. Due to the large number of participants and spectators, the tournament will take place in the spacious sports and leisure center in Kalbach. “We are delighted that the Adler Cup has such a great international response and that children travel thousands of kilometers with their parents to fight here in Frankfurt am Main,” enthuses initiator and tournament director Fabian Keller from TSG Nordwest . “The key is the parent helpers at TSG, who help here day and night for 4 days and plan and prepare throughout the year,” adds Djelloul Djeriou, head of the judo department at TSG 1898. In fact, the entire event is planned and organized by volunteers – and has been since 2015.
Oldrich Jezek from the Czech Republic, who has been at the Adler Cup with his talent center since the beginning: »The Adler Cup in Frankfurt is not only an impressive world festival of judo for children and young people, it also brings cultures together, is perfectly organized and yet demanding. For our children it is an indicator of where you stand with all that training.«
Especially after the long #Corona Pause, the organizers are happy about the large number of participating nations – the event is open to the public and spectators are invited to experience this unique sports festival in Frankfurt am Main free of charge.
Judo is a sport that promotes self-confidence, discipline, a sense of fairness, respect and respect for one another, especially in children. The Adler Cup is held in an integrative manner.
