A huge light park is Budapest’s new winter attraction
More than a hundred colorful LED figures await visitors from Friday evening in Budapest’s new winter tourist attraction, the in Lumina Park. The exhibition was created in the Palatine Baths, and the idea came from Poland, where hundreds of thousands of guests have already visited similar light parks.
The area of the Palatinus bath is 10 hectares. The maintainers have been thinking about using this giant park for the winter for a long time – and the representatives of the Polish startup that created the light parks saw this very location as the best place to create the Budapest edition.
“We believe that we can contribute to Budapest’s winter tourism. There are few real tourist attractions in the capital in winter. And I think that in this extremely difficult situation, in this energy crisis situation, this park offers so much joy, beauty, and warmth, which I think we all miss very much,” Ildikó Borosné Szűts, head of the Budapest Spa Gyógyfürdői és Hévizei Zrt., told Euronews. CEO.
The light park invites visitors on a fairytale trip around the world, from Australia to Africa, on a route that is almost two kilometers long and can be completed in just over an hour and a half. The exhibition is open every day from dark to nine in the evening until February 28, and since the Palatinus bath has a serious solar capacity, its maintenance costs less than seven million forints during its four-month operation.
The world’s first Lumina Park was created near Wroclaw, in an area that was almost ruined during the coronavirus pandemic when the creators were approached. In the end, more than a hundred thousand people visited the exhibition, which far exceeded the expectations of the organizers.
