Where at the weekend? As usual, we remind you of the most interesting auto-moto events in the following holiday.
Prague Car Festival 2022 will welcome unique tuned wreckers
Already on Saturday, the gates of the eleventh edition of the Prague Car Festival will open at the PVA Expo in Prague’s Letňany. The automotive event of European importance will continue on Sunday and, as usual, visitors and exhibitors will obviously have a parade of unique cars and motorcycles.
Every year, the popular Prague Car Festival brings together specially tuned wreckers with modern sports cars, improved vintage cars and the world of motorsport. This year too, the organizers promise the participation of Czech and foreign top players, and there will also be well-known personalities such as Czech freestyle motocross competitor Libor Podmol or popular YouTuber Koza Bobkov.
Classic Expo 2022 will commemorate historic cars
Along with the Prague Car Festival, this year’s Glasurit Classic Expo will also take place at the Letňany exhibition center this coming weekend. It is mainly aimed at lovers of historic vehicles and promises a display of beautiful exhibits as well as a rich accompanying program. More than 150 vintage cars and motorcycles from the pre-war era to the 1990s will be on display.
At the same time, this year’s Classic Expo will also celebrate an important jubilee, will bring film screenings and live music, and will be the site of an auction of classic veterans. Glasurit Classic Expo 2022 takes place in Prague’s Letňany on October 29-30, just like the Prague Car Festival.
The Army Museum in Žižkov will reopen after reconstruction
On the occasion of tomorrow’s national holiday, celebrating the 104th anniversary of the founding of the independent Czechoslovak state, the Army Museum in Prague’s Žižkov will reopen. Since September 2018, it has been undergoing a demanding general reconstruction of the building complex, and together with the new opening, I will present a completely new exhibition to visitors.
The Žižkov Army Museum will tell the story of the military history of the Czech region on an area three times larger than the original museum had. In seven basic parts, it thus shows the history of the Czech land from the beginnings of the settlement of our territory by the Slavs to the present day. The new exhibition is created in a modern spirit and combines objects, documents, photographs and film clips. Up to 7,500 historical exhibits can be seen in the showcases.
The exhibition “Behind the wheel without fear and harassment” presents the past of car clubs in the Czech lands
In today’s tips for weekend activities with the smell of gasoline and a touch of history, we will also visit outside of Prague. On October 25, the Technical Museum in Brno opened the latest exhibition “Behind the wheel without fear and chicanery” and brings closer the phenomenon of car clubs in the Czech lands between 1904 and 1951.
The exhibition, which lasts until February 26, brings visitors closer to the importance of car clubs in the Czech lands of the time, and its name refers to the text in the first issue of the magazine Auto, published by the Czech Automobile Club in 1913. The founder, Karel Rosenberg, recalled the reasons there, mainly mentioning the public’s animosity towards motorists and their frequent harassment (“harassment”) by state authorities.
In the Technical Museum in Brno, you can also see racing cars of Moravian brands from the time of the First Republic, the passengers will see the most racing Zbrojovka from Brno, the so-called “Zetek”.
All the necessary information can be found on the official website of the mentioned events. Do you know of any other interesting auto-moto events this coming weekend? Tell others about them in the comments. Thank you!
