Almost suffocating Toulouse ! November is approaching, the sweaters are still stored in the cupboards. With the sequence of these (abnormally) mild temperatures, weather records should fall at the end of October.
“It’s really unheard of! »
The maximum temperature record for a tenth month of the year should not be broken (on October 2, 2011, the thermometer was displayed up to 30.8°C). On the other hand, the average of the maximum (19.7°C) and minimal (10.9°C) of October should be… exploded!
In any case, this is what Pascal Boureau announces. The former Météo France forecaster indicates that the average maximum for October 2022 will amount to… 25°C ! Count 15°C (!) for the average minimum for the month. “Within plus or minus 0.1 degrees”, he specifies.
“We are very, very, above normal for the season. It’s really unheard of!”
How to explain this phenomenon ?
the global warming is a track to explain these abnormal temperatures. “In October, it’s not isolated to have hot periods. But this one lasts since the beginning of the month. All temperatures are above normal. It’s exceptional and we can put it down to global warming,” explains Pascal Boureau.
“In recent years, when it’s hot, it’s even hotter than expected. Weather models are being outpaced by this wrap of global warming.”
These autumnal heats are also explained by the Foehn effect. It’s when the fresh wind from Spain meets the Pyrenees chain, crosses the mountain barrier before descending into the Pyrenean valleys. It is on the way down that the air warms up.
Autumn, when is it for?
“It will still last in the week. In Toulouse, on sera between 25°C and 27°C. At the foot of the Pyrenees, we can go up to 28/30°C until Friday, ”announces the former forecaster.
To have autumnal temperatures, we will have to wait a little longer… “It seems that at the beginning of November, between the 3rd and the 6th, there will be a shift in the upper current towards the west. This could bring back disturbed passages and temperatures a little more adapted to the season”, see Pascal Boureau.
We almost want to say we can’t wait!
