ALL ANTWERP. “Working with young people is my calling” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Manu Moreau (41).
“I’ve been doing stand-up comedy for a number of years. That is a passion that also benefits me in other pursuits. I also work as a job coach at City Pirates football club and notice that humor can have a very disarming effect when approaching young people.”
“As a job coach, my job is to proactively approach NEET young people. They fell by the wayside and it is up to us to help them get started. That is certainly not always an easy task: x haphazardly hope for a task in the internet world and no tools given or even don’t know where to start. We try to support them in the enormously important first steps towards the labor market.”
“In concrete terms, we do this, for example, through job application training. The biggest challenge is to get disciplined. Once the young people understand the importance of each other, it can turn into a success story.”
“A networking moment is immediately on the agenda in which we reflect on the theme together with other organizations such as Kras and SAAMO, and the city. Antwerp is committed to loitering and actively combating neglect. Let’s hope that together we can all reach more young people and create a positive trend.” (lava)
