STAN accepted the offer of the Prague coalition SPOLU (ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL) to negotiate the creation of a majority coalition in the capital. Yesterday evening, ČTK informed the leader of the movement for the Prague municipal elections, Petr Hlaváček. Thus, according to the offer of the TOGETHER coalition, the mayors could get two mandates in the city council, including the position of deputy mayor.
According to Hlaváček, the distribution of forces in the city council should still be discussed. The TOGETHER coalition offered cooperation to the STAN movement and also to the Pirates on Saturday and is ready to negotiate with their representatives on Monday or Tuesday.
In the elections in Prague, the TOGETHER coalition won before the second ANO movement and the third Pirates. ČTK has not yet been able to obtain their current statement.
“Prague needs a government based on the current election results. A government-based coalition is a good solution for Prague. We accept the offer for tripartite negotiations and I believe that it will accelerate negotiations towards a democratic government for Prague,” Hlaváček told ČTK yesterday.
The Prague coalition TOGETHER justified Saturday’s offer to the Pirates and STAN to negotiate with the post-election negotiations to date. According to coalition representatives, these parties can find agreement on programmatic, organizational, process and personnel issues.
The fact that they prefer a coalition with the Pirates and STAN on the government’s plan was said by the members of the SPOLU negotiation team already after the municipal elections. However, no agreement has yet emerged from the negotiations with the individual parties.
TOGETHER, according to Saturday’s announcement by a member of the negotiating team, Zdeňko Zajíček (ODS), proposes six mandates for himself in the city council. According to the coalition that won the elections in Prague, the three mandates should go to the ODS, which should also have the post of mayor.
Two seats in the council should be held by the TOP 09 party, including the position of deputy mayor. One seat should be occupied by a representative of the KDU-ČSL. Three mandates, including the post of first deputy mayor, are proposed by SPOLU for the Pirates, who finished in third place in the autumn municipal elections.
According to the proposal of the coalition, two mandates should go to the STAN movement, including the position of deputy mayor. According to Hlaváček, mandates should still be discussed. “The distribution of mandates in the council, which is proposed by SPOLU, will certainly be one of the subjects,” said the leader of STAN in Prague yesterday evening.
Zajíček, who is the chairman of the Prague club SPOL, told ČTK on Saturday that the coalition is ready to negotiate with representatives of the Pirates and STAN on Monday or Tuesday. According to Zajíček, the coalition agreement could be signed next week if the parties agree to the meeting.
During the post-election negotiations, the Pirates and STAN previously raised the demand that Praha Sobě be included in the negotiations, which the TOTAL coalition refused. This week, Pirates and Praha Soba announced the formation of the Alliance for Stability, which means that they will proceed exclusively together in negotiations.
Praha Sobě movement spokesperson Cecílie Antůšková told ČTK on Saturday afternoon that Praha Sobě continues to consider the agreement with the Pirates to be valid. According to Zajíček, there is no reason for Praha Sobě to be a member of the Prague coalition, he said on Saturday when asked by ČTK.
After this year’s municipal elections in Prague, the TOGETHER coalition won 19 mandates in the 65-member council. ANO ended second with 14 mandates. The third Pirates will have 13 representatives. Čtvrtá Praha Sobě has 11 mandates, five representatives will have STAN in fifth place. Sixth is the SPD movement with three mandates.
