Eintracht column: Now the Spider Cam speaks | hessenschau.de
Secret heroine in the Eintracht Frankfurt game in Gladbach: the defective Spider Cam. Reichs Resterampe lets the camera have its say in an exclusive interview. She says quite clearly: “It was just a slack”.
Eintracht Frankfurt wins confidently at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The secret heroine is the Spider Cam, which causes a minute-long interruption with a defective cable and thus takes the momentum out of Gladbach’s final offensive. Time for an exclusive interview.
Spider Cam, in the Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Mönchengladbach game you were suddenly the center of attention when one of your cables came loose and was hanging onto the pitch. How did you experience the scene?
My job is a tightrope act anyway, that’s for sure. In the corresponding situation, as a camera, I simply lost focus a bit, unfortunately I have to say so.
What was the reason for this lack of concentration?
Objectively everything was fine. Also with my lens. But then I realized that I was getting frame rate issues as soon as Randal Kolo Muani or Jesper Lindstrom was on the ball. The depth of field got worse and worse as the depth of field of the two got better. And then I had a sudden slack.
Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner said after the game: “There is always something new in football. None of us have experienced that before.” Does that apply to you too?
I’ve always been quite a high achiever, I’ve never had a faux pas before. But maybe I was too careless. I’ve always been kind of silent about things, which is why critics often think I’m aloof. But that’s how it is in football: first you’re cheered on, then you’re dropped. Or at least one of your cables.
The time when the cable came loose was extremely unfavorable for Gladbach. They had just scored the goal. Did you choose the time consciously?
I’m not a Eintracht sympathizer, if that’s what you mean. It’s more that I have a strained relationship with Gladbach. You know, I always do my job conscientiously here. But the people in charge here in the stadium keep letting me down. Sometimes I could really hit the roof. Maybe that subconsciously played a role.
Do I hear a certain criticism?
Oh, in a traditional club there are always some rope teams. But if I let it all get to me, I could hang myself right away. And there are also many people here with whom I get on best. The caretaker who came to me first referred directly if I had any damage so hang around. I found that very thoughtful.
Did you actually hurt yourself during the action?
No, I’m a real machine. But emotionally it wasn’t that easy for me, I was really on the ropes. And my mother also suffered a lot from the situation. But we found them on the lawn and screwed them back on.
And what happens now?
I get annoyed the most with myself, that’s clear. But as soon as I feel settled again, I’ll get back into it. To those who say I have a screw loose, I want to prove it.
