The Prague “S” derby is a football festival that traditionally fills the stands of Prague’s football stadiums to the brim. Today’s derby between Slavia and Sparta, which will be played from seven o’clock in the evening in Vršovice Eden, is the highlight of the thirteenth round of the first football league. There are already thousands of supporters of both Sparta and Slavia on the streets, heading to the stadium. The Sparta camp set off from Náměstí Miru at half past five. Dozens of policemen oversee security.
The Derby in Prague’s Eden is hopelessly sold out
Around four hundred Sparta fans descended on Náměstí Míru at half past five in the afternoon, a few minutes later they set off to the Fortuna Arena in Vršov, where they were greeted by several Slavia home fans. The Spartans chanted slogans like “Jude Slavia” or “Today Eden lies in ashes”. The celebrants responded with disapproving whistles and boos.
Today’s hopelessly sold-out Prague derby was disgusted by the battle between the second-ranked Slavia and the third-ranked Sparta, who won three of the last four matches. It will be the first derby for the coach of the Dane Brian Priske, who eliminated Slavia in the preliminary round of the Champions League in September 2020 when he coached Midtjylland.
The match in Eden kicks off at seven o’clock in the evening and will be a battle for second place in the table behind Pilsen. Second place now belongs to Slavia, who have two points ahead of Sparta. Slavia won all six league matches at home in this category with a score of 28:3.
