Velvet Underground – John Cale. Concert in Prague
Multi-instrumentalist Cale, who also established himself as a producer, he gave a concert for the first time in Czechoslovakia in 1992 in Prague’s Lucerne. It has since returned, including a concert by the revived Velvet Underground in 1993. Eight years ago, he played at the National Theater at the Remembrance of the Nation Awards. So far, the last time Cale performed in the Czech Republic was in June 2018 at the Metronome festival in Prague. He has stated in the past that Prague is one of the places he enjoys the most.
With a joint performance by John Cale and Japanese dancer Nino Tanaka, the Archa Theater opened its own in June 1994. Cale is due back here next year March 1st. Tickets are on sale in advance from today in the GoOut network and the theater box office.
New album
Cale, 80, is currently touring the UK. For the Mercy album, which is scheduled for release on January 20, he prepared with his own 12 songs. Domino Records released the video clip Story of Blood as the first act from the album.
John Cale is credited among others 16 solo albums, last released six years ago. The typical sound of the Velvet Underground will show itself wailing viola, monotonous keyboards and booming bass guitar. He is the author of the opera Mata Hari, music for the ballet about Nico (Dance Music) and film music. As a producer, for example, in 1975 he helped Patti Smith with her debut Horses. He collaborated with Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Brian Eno and David Byrne.
