the mayors of Nancy, Dijon and Lyon challenge Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne
“At a time of ecological transition, reinforced by the particularly violent energy crisis, rail must be a priority in the fight against global warming. »
This is the message that the mayor of Nancy, Mathieu Klein, also president of the Métropole du Grand Nancy, wishes to convey with the mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen, and the mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, to the government.
The three elected officials have just written this Thursday, October 20 to Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne for the government to commit “to the return of a direct train between these three metropolises, these three economic, demographic and tourist areas”.
The return of direct trains between Nancy, Dijon and Lyon is expected, especially by users of the Nancy metropolis who no longer have quick direct access to the Rhône, forcing them to go through Paris, the Gare de l’Est and the Gare de Lyon, or Strasbourg.
A Lorraine with no direct link to the South
The three mayors point out that “the abolition of direct TGV links between Nancy, Dijon and Lyon, which took place in favor of the works of the exchange hub at the Lyon Part-Dieu station, generated an anachronistic situation where the car has become the the most competitive transport solution between the three cities, to the detriment of the train”.
“Today, this continued degradation of the rail service is hampering daily travel and condemned Lorraine to no longer have a direct link with the south, even though the infrastructure exists and the freight service continues”, add the mayors. .
