end of experimentation with public urinals
There were sixteen of them installed on Place Louis Pradel, the Berges du Rhône or even in Parc Blandan.
The experiment with inclusive urinals ended on September 26 with the gradual disappearance of these facilities who had made a lot of talkin particular those on the Place Louis Pradel listed as World Heritage by UNESCO.
These public toilets, set up by the Metropolis of Lyon and the City of Lyon, have now completely disappeared following this test which lasted six months. 362,500 users used these inclusive urinals saving 435,000 liters of water. “Following a 3-week user survey, 94% of respondents are satisfied with the current locations of the toilets and almost all consider the state of cleanliness to be very good. Any damage that may have occurred was quickly repaired by our service provider.“, had declared on Twitter Bruno Bernard.
“This experiment underlines the demand for sanitary facilities and the need to reconcile urban planning, inclusiveness & ecology constraints in the proposed solutions. Far from controversy, there is a health need. We will work with these results to answer them“, added the president of the Metropolis of Lyon without giving more details on the continuation of this project, the financing of which amounted to 140,000 euros.
