Prague buys trolleybuses for 1.1 billion. U v where they will ride
The purchase of 70 new battery-powered trolleybuses, standard twelve meters in length, is part of the concept of all alternative drives in the public transport sector, and is also part of the fulfillment of European, national and municipal obligations to reduce the energy efficiency, emissions and noise of public bus transport.
The home station of the Soutench trolleybus will be the EPY station, where DPP plans to build both a new trolleybus line (as part of the construction of the infrastructure for the electrification of line 119 buses), as well as additional tracks.
The electrification of the buses of the line 140 Palmovka Mikovice is now complete, last Saturday, DPP started a trial operation at the new first section of Letana akovice. By the end of November, we should start building the infrastructure on line 119 Ndra Veleslavn Letit Praha, according to Adam Scheinherr, deputy mayor of Prague for transport and chairman of the DPP supervisory board.
In this public order, in addition to the standard evaluation criteria, such as the tender price or the length of the warranty, the DPP wants to test a new trolleybus with a term. This criterion and the rmco agreement, which we will enter into for the equivalent of five years, i.e. until 2028, with the taking of a tender, will enable us to fulfill the gradual purchase of a specific number of vehicles for electrification projects in the mentioned five bus lines, depending on their readiness. Last but not least, we will be able to apply for a grant for the purchase of these vehicles from the European Union, which is being prepared, according to Petr Witowski, chairman of the board and editor-in-chief of DPP.
New cars must be in Prague for at least 15 years
The transport company wants the design speed of the offered vehicles to be at least 70 km/h, which they should reach in both driving modes, that is, when powered from the trolley line and from the traction accumulator. The guaranteed range of the trolleybus when running on energy stored in the batteries must then be at least 15 km.
The supplier must therefore provide a guarantee that the life of the accumulator will be at least seven years or 420 thousand kilometers. The supplier must also be able to supply spare accumulators for the declared service life of the trolleybus, which should be a minimum of 15 years in municipal service. DPP requires a warranty of at least five years for trolleybuses.
The trolleybuses will have a minimum of 2,535 seats for passengers, six of which will be reserved for people with limited mobility or orientation. The trolleybuses will of course be fully low-floor, limited by the check-in and information system, air conditioning, above the Standard PID according to two cities for the transport of passengers in wheelchairs or people with corks, interior routes and external security and assistance confirmation cameras and systems.
