Theater – Frankfurt am Main – Trials about right-wing terror-inspired play – culture
Frankfurt/Main (dpa) – In the beginning there was the trial before the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court, which took place far beyond the city limits: the trial against the murderer of the Kassel district president Walter Lübcke and the trial against the Bundeswehr officer Franco A. who was suspected of being a terrorist On Thursday, a play by the director and author Marie Schwesinger premiered in the Landungsbrücken theater in Frankfurt, which deals with the scenic processing of the processes, but also with the questions that remain unanswered regardless of the legal decisions.
The performance “Werwolf Commandos” deals with the topic of right-wing extremist violence in Germany and the forms of legal processing. According to the author, it is also about what connects and separates theater and court. In both, language has a relevant meaning – and in a way a courtroom is also a stage in which the protagonists involved in the proceedings have different roles.
“Werewolf Command” should also deal with the question “when to speak and when to be silent”, it is about the sovereignty of interpretation over the discourses, according to the announcement. At the same time, answers are sought to the question of which language can be used to artistically perceive right-wing positions on stage. The play was performed for the first time in September at the Weimar Theater Festival.
