The Nýrsk children (boys and girls) did not disappoint in the grounds of the Petrovice Rugby Club despite the constant rain, they thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and finally brought home thirteenth place. “It’s a bit of a surprise for us and we appreciate it a lot because we had the youngest team ever at the tournament. The final thirteenth place is a very nice result,” said Roman Kodera, one of the coaches, with enthusiasm.
Coach Roman Kodera speaks to his young charges during the tournament in Petrovice.
“Rugby weather prevailed throughout the tournament. It was raining, there was a lot of mud. The children also enjoyed the tournament outside of the matches themselves. They didn’t even mind the mud, on the contrary. They were rolling around so that they couldn’t even see the numbers on the jerseys,” he smiled.
In the end, the first team of RC Tatra Smíchov won the entire tournament, the children from the club RC Mountfield Říčany finished in second place, and the bronze was won by the players of RC Praga Praha I. The best foreign team was the fifth overall TSV Handschuhsheim from neighboring Germany.
On the first day of the weekend in Prague, children from Nirš also presented themselves in the U8 category. They completed their tournament as part of the youth rugby festival at the RC Praga Prague pitch and, in addition to the experience, took home a nice ninth place.
