Trip saved? Prague changed it with the state, now it is awaiting reconstruction
Prague has been negotiating the exchange of property with the state for several years. Previously, the central topic was land in Letňany, where the then Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) wanted to establish a so-called official district. After the elections to the Chamber of Deputies, when the composition of the government changed, the planned exchange of property also got moving.
The land is in the hands of Prague
The exchange was divided into two packages with a total value of over 2 billion crowns. In the first package, there are several significant changes that will help the development of the given territory. Prague will exchange land with the state at the Faculty Hospital of Královské Vinohrady, where the state plans to build a new trauma center. “In return, the state will provide us with land for courts on Letná, which are important for the development of the given area,” explained property councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09). The Výletná leisure center operated on the land until 2019, but it had to be closed due to the decision of the “official authorities”.
Before the state agreed on an exchange with Prague, it wanted to put the entire site up for public auction. “The LTC, or Výletná, clubhouse has finally been transferred to the property of the city of Prague. We managed to prevent the threat of an auction of this unique plot of land in the center of Letenské sady! Actions must now follow so that the area stops decaying and starts serving the widest possible circle of Prague citizens again,” pointed out the mayor of Prague 7, Jan Čižinský (Prague Sobě).
Not that the solution in the form of a private investor is necessarily always wrong, but there are also cases when it is really wrong, for example the current case of the Džbán swimming pool, where the company Molepo demands a change in the zoning plan in order to be able to build apartment buildings on land now designated for recreation. “We didn’t want Vyletná to end up like Jžbán“, added Čižinský.
A selection process will take place
And what will happen next? The capital city council now fromadala to develop a case study that will determine the methodology for selecting operators real estate with regard to the purpose of its use. According to the spokesperson of the Municipality, hl. m of Prague by Tadeáš Provazník should have been completed by the end of October.
“From the Case Study there will be a recommendation for the next procedure in the use of the property in question. According to the antecedents of the conclusions of the case study, it can be assumed that it will be recommended to measure the procedure for leasing the property in question together with other related properties, which together form a logical functional unit and are long-term used by the LTC Prague tennis club for sports and leisure activities of the club members and the general public,” added Provazník. However, it is not clear whether the outgoing Council will manage all this. m of Prague or even new ones, because the coalition negotiations are still ongoing.
History
The clubhouse of the LTC tennis club, which is a listed monument, was built in 1926 according to the design of the architect Bohumil Kozák. Important personalities such as Jan and Olga Masaryk, Karel Schwarzenberg or Jiří Stanislav Guth-Jarkovský played tennis here. The complex consists of 4 tennis courts and an indoor tennis hall, as well as a clubhouse. But for many years the clubhouse was closed and dilapidated, until in 2012 the enthusiast Marek Semerád decided to save the clubhouse. It took him a year and a half to negotiate the necessary permits with the authorities, and only in 2015 did he finally manage to open Vyletná, after four years it was closed and now it is hopefully looking forward to better times again.
