Solid progress for U-gutta | handball.no
– We are having a very, very good match today, says Jan Thomas Lauritzen on the phone from Fredericia in Denmark.
U-gutta has had a few days of training in Denmark, and met the host nation for a match already on Wednesday. There was a significant difference between the teams, and the Danes won 33-20. When the teams met again on Friday, it was a much smoother affair.
What has happened in days?
– The guys probably got a wake-up call on Wednesday. A reality orientation on what really needs to be done at this level. We dry more, we play tougher, are braver in our bets and this in turn gives us confidence in the duels, explains Jan Thomas, who does not hide that he is well satisfied with the stay.
– This was exactly what we wanted: That more than those who have been central to the team should get to know the international level.
Denmark led the games all the way, and led 16-14 at the break. Norway was never closer than two goals behind. 10 minutes before the end, the Danes got a gap of four goals, but Norway bit quickly and eventually lost 28-30.
The coaches will not single out any individual players, but praise the whole team for a real collective boost.
