Booster vaccinations in Zurich: Only one of four Zurich vaccination centers is fully booked
Only one of four Zurich vaccination centers is fully booked
Covid booster vaccinations have been available in the canton of Zurich since Monday. Around 5,000 people were vaccinated in the first few days.
Around 5,000 people in Zurich have been vaccinated every day since the start of the Covid booster vaccinations on Monday. The demand for the second booster is roughly in line with expectations, as a spokeswoman for the health department of the canton of Zurich said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. From the point of view of the health department, the booster vaccination campaign got off to a good start.
Of the four cantonal vaccination centers, only one is fully booked until the end of the month: the reference center at Hirschengraben in the heart of Zurich. In the other three – Zurich-Oerlikon, Winterthur and Uster – appointments are still available at short notice.
The vaccination centers alone can administer a total of up to 7000 vaccinations per day. In addition, the vaccination WILL continue to be offered in numerous medical practices and pharmacies. Vaccines adapted to one of the omicron variants of the coronavirus are administered.
As in previous years, the number of Covid cases in the canton of Zurich increased again in autumn. The average of those who tested positive rose from a good 900 to almost 1100 per day within a week. Many who are currently being vaccinated have another reason for doing so, as the head of the Uster center told the NZZ says: They want to go on vacation, and countries like the USA or Canada do not let anyone in who is not double vaccinated.
At the earliest four months after the last vaccination or infection
The Federal Office of Public Health and the Federal Commission for Vaccination Issues recommend the Covid booster vaccinations primarily to people who are particularly at risk. These include people over 65 and people aged 16 and over who have risk factors. Secondarily, the recommendation also applies to all other people over the age of 16 – but no earlier than four months after the last vaccination or infection. Vaccinations that meet the recommendations are free.
