He was on Europol’s list of most wanted criminals. The investigators found Flor Bressers (36) in Zurich, where a process is now underway.

Last February, Flor Bressers was arrested in Zurich.
-
The 36-year-old Belgian was one of Europol’s most wanted criminals for years.
-
His case shows that drug deals are increasingly being carried out in Europe as well.
-
According to current figures, cocaine consumption accounts for around 25 percent of all police reports in Switzerland.
With his master’s degree in criminology, Flor Bressers (36) has made a career in the underworld. He is accused of having imported cocaine from South America to Europe together with a criminal organization. Exactly how much cannot be said, but it should have been in the ton range, writes that “Daily Journal”. For two years, the 36-year-old considered himself on the run. A network of helpers is said to have enabled him to keep acquiring new identities. Investigators suspect the 36-year-old in South Africa when they started looking for him.
But he stayed in Zurich with his wife and son. As the “Tagblatt” reports, Bressers lived with his family in a luxurious apartment near Zurich Hardbrücke station. He and his wife were arrested in February as part of a joint action by the Zurich cantonal police and the Federal Office of Police fedpol, led by the Zurich Canton’s Public Prosecutor’s Office II. The special unit Diamant was used for liability.
“The Finger Cutter”
The Federal Criminal Court has approved the extradition of Flor Bressers to Belgium. In Switzerland he is also said to have invested the money from the drug trade, this is evident from the court decision, writes the “Tagblatt”.
The Belgian was known internationally by the nickname “the finger cutter”. This stems from the fact that Bressers is said to have cut off a finger of a gangster with garden shears twelve years ago, whereby he was finally acquitted according to his defense lawyer. However, he was acquitted of the charge due to lack of evidence. Two years ago, he used similar methods to injure a Dutch florist when the florist failed to smuggle drugs past customs. He was finally sentenced for this crime.
The 36-year-old is now in solitary confinement in Switzerland for dealing in drugs. Otherwise he could organize his escape or have evidence destroyed, the authorities fear.
Increasing readiness to use violence
The production of cocaine has increased according to the World Drug Report the UN more than doubled in the last seven years. Benefit especially from the drug cartels from the size of the deep-sea ports of Antwerp in Belgium and Rotterdam in Holland. Due to the large number of containers that arrive there every day, the inspectors can only inspect part of the cargo. Nevertheless, the number of drugs confiscated in the last year shows an immense extent. According to the “Tagblatt”, 70 tons of drugs were confiscated in Rotterdam and 36 tons in Antwerp. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg, since only a fraction of the incoming goods can be checked.
There is an increasing willingness to use violence on the part of drug gangs. Also towards the state: The 18-year-old Dutch Crown Princess Amalia did not have to move from the student residence back to the palace until mid-September for security reasons. The eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander, Princess Catharina-Amalia (18), should be targeted The notorious “Mocro Maffia”.
Cocaine cheaper than a cocktail
As the “Tagblatt” writes, the degree of purity of cocaine has increased steadily in recent years, while the price has remained the same. Retailers would therefore have to be satisfied with small margins. However, this reduces the risk of poisoning for consumers.
According to current figures from «Search Switzerland» the average purity is 60 percent and a line of cocaine costs about ten francs. Around 9,000 people were reported for the use of cocaine in 2021, which corresponds to 25 percent of all reports made.
In this context are the allegations against Flor Bressers, who apparently dealt in drugs and at the age of 36 was one of the most wanted criminals in the world. He is currently still in solitary confinement. The Federal Supreme Court recently extended this measure due to its dangerous nature. He can still appeal the verdict that Bressers will be extradited from Switzerland to Belgium. It is the presumption of innocence.
