On the bridge, all road layers are finished and construction workers are completing minor works.
Originally, the bridge was supposed to be open to drivers on September 2, then it was moved to September 29, and the third date was October 10. Even these data, however, did not have time to be corrected.
It has not yet been decided whether, and at what amount, the city, through its company Technická správa komunikací (TSK), will apply a possible fine to the construction company Porr for the delay in repairs.
Construction company Porr is working on the five-year repairs of the bridge, which are expected to cost 594.5 million crowns. The construction manager is a consortium of companies IDS Praha, Contract Management and VIS. These three entities jointly supervise the repairs.
Reconstruction of the bridge began on May 16 this year. The workers first demolished the access ramp from Strakonická street, milled the roadway and outdoor ledges, railings and insulation.
Due to forced adjustments to the project, the completed repair was delayed by 27 days in the summer. According to traffic square Adam Scheinherr, the reason for the delay is, among other things, that the reinforcement in the bridge is and are stronger than expected. According to Scheinherr, the project specified 25-millimeter fittings, but in the bridge they are 32-millimeter.
The over-dimensioning of the Barrandovský bridge was also shown by the fact that instead of a fifteen-centimeter layer of resin, the layer was twice as thick.
“This was the most unnecessary burden, so we decided not to restore the resin varnish to its original thickness. Instead, the remaining 15 centimeters will be filled with a layer of high-strength concrete,” Scheinherr described.
