Hristomir Hristov: Within ten years there will be at least three more unicorns in Bulgaria
The suite is QuickBooks’ application for audio summaries to popularize and that price is understated compared to competitors, the manager pointed out
There are definitely Bulgarian startups with the potential to become unicorns. Until now, there is only one unicorn in Bulgaria, because recently we have enjoyed entrepreneurship in Bulgaria, but it is growing and I believe that in the next ten years we will see at least three more. This forecast in the show “Business Start” on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria made Hristomir Hristovexecutive director of the start-up “Quick Books”, which develops and already offers the first Bulgarian application for audio summaries of books.
When asked how the financing environment has changed in Bulgaria, because we see that it is becoming more difficult around the world, he is of the opinion that now the situation is normal and maybe in some specific countries there are problems, but start up you feel more and more the important rule in this ecosystem remains unchanged: “When business is good, investors are found”.
“I can’t wait to start the first in Bulgaria televised start-up competition “The Dare”, which will follow”, said Hristomir Hristov.
“The main problem that the audiobook app solves, says Hristov, is the lack of structured information. – What we do is to give information in a very short time, and so the listener manages to understand the meaning of the book in 10-15 minutes. He can decide if he wants to buy the book or if just the highlights are enough for him.”
According to him, the goal is to make the application of “Fast Popular Books” and the prices are lower compared to the competitors operating on the world market.
Hristov reported that so far just over 70 thousand users have downloaded the application. He confirmed that the profit will come out when the subscribers exceed 200 thousand.
According to the startup scout, there is no risk of losing the “magic of reading” with the audio summaries that are offered, and they answer that the effect is exactly the opposite and people after hearing the summary buy the book. “And those who have not chosen to read books until now hear the summary and are inspired to start reading,” adds the manager.
He noted that the audiobook market has grown very rapidly in the last five to six years, and it is most common for a reader to have both the audiobook and a physical copy of the publication.
Are you expecting a growth in paper books? Is the magic of reading lost with new technologies? What areas are audio resumes in? When do people most often buy books? How to ensure the veracity of the information in the “Quick Books” application. Where does the inspiration to create an app come from?
