“Attention is being paid to the life sciences” – Corriere di Siena
There are about 2,500 new ones freshmen enrolled in the degree courses ofUniversity of Siena. On the other hand, there are a thousand students who are enrolled in the two-year master’s degrees. “We are back on what were the pre-pandemic numbers and levels”, declares the rector of theUniversity of Siena, Francesco Frati.
The numbers relating to new university students are therefore satisfactory for the top management of the city university. And these are not, however, even definitive numbers. In fact, there is time until November 2 to register for degree courses and even until December 20 to register for master’s degrees. These data, therefore, will still be able to grow in the weeks to weeks. The statistics are all girls, moreover, that the Sienese university remains attractive in the Italian boot: in fact, in all the enrollments, about 50% are boys and Tuscans while the remaining 50% come from other regions and are therefore in this case people who have specifically chosen to come to study and live in Siena.
Frati comments: “These numbers satisfy us and we are pleased to see the students returning to university and attending it in the classrooms, study rooms, libraries, laboratories. This is a very important element. We are noticing a great interest from students in the field of life sciences and in fact this year we record a strong increase in enrollments in Biological Sciences. There are also increases in the humanistic field with a few dozen more students than the numbers of the past, we see it for example for what concerns History and also Philology and criticism of ancient and modern literatures. There is also always the traditional attractiveness of limited number degree courses in the health area, I am thinking of Medicine and Surgery and also of Dentristry in English and all the courses of the health professions “.
