The Republic of Moldova would be a stake for Russia from a geopolitical point of view. Ex-Minister of Defense: “They want a government hostile to Ukraine”
The former Minister of Defense, Anatol Șalaru, does not rule out that the three Russian missiles that crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova were a “warning or even a threat” to our country. And former deputy of the DA Platform, Chiril Moțpan, I think that everything could have been intentional. Statements were made during the October 11 edition of the show “Freedom” from TV8.
“It was a signal sent to the Republic of Moldova, it was a warning or even a threat to the Republic of Moldova. They violated the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, they did it intentionally, with good knowledge and it hurt all our neutrality and independence”, stated the ex-Minister of Defense, Anatol Șalaru.
“It seems plausible to me the scenario that they did it on purpose, without taking into account the desire or unwillingness of the Republic of Moldova, without preventing. Our structures did not know that this would happen”, said Chiril Moțpan.
According to him, by means of these missiles, “a message to the destructive forces” in our country could have been sent.
“It is alarming, but at the same time, we can say with certainty that part of the citizens, those who insure maybe 20-25%, some of them enjoyed this. I felt that through these facts that Russia was so close to the Republic of Moldova through missiles, a message was also sent to the destructive forces in the Republic of Moldova, it is a reasonable suspicion, I think,” the ex-president of the national security commission emphasized. Cyril. Moțpan.
TV8.md reminds that three cruise missiles from Russian military ships located in the Black Sea transited the territory of our country on Monday morning, October 10. The three aerial targets flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova between 08:33 and 09:02.
The targets traveled in the directions Ciornaia – Moghilev Podolsk (Ukraine) – Rîbnița – Soroca – Moghilev Podolsk, Ciornaia – Voronovka (Ukraine) – Rîbnița – Rudi (Soroca) and Ciornaia (Ukraine) – village Popencu (Republic of Moldova) – Cineșăuți (Floresti) – in the direction of Ukraine.
The three missiles were also confirmed by the responsible structure of the Ministry of National Defense of Romania and Ukraine. At the same time, the targets were observed by the monitoring systems of the State Enterprise for the Use of Airspace and Air Traffic Service “Moldatsa”.
“The targets pose a danger to the infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova and, in particular, to the civil aircraft that fly over the country’s airspace,” stated the Ministry of Defense.
Shortly after, the Russian ambassador in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to give explanations.
“Based on the latest situations, all measures can be taken that will ensure national security. Any violation of national airspace is a risk, any flying target. Overall it is a flagrant violation of national air sovereignty. What is condemned by us and the state leadership. The danger is quite high, because we don’t know what the purpose is, what direction and what this target can aim at”, declared the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi.
“It is not clear whether these missiles have technical and tactical characteristics and cannot deviate from the course that was intended and cannot fall somewhere during the flight. We analyzed the directions of travel, altitudes, and it was clear that it was not aimed at us, but we are still analyzing what the impact would be on the Republic of Moldova”, he added.
