Yesterday, representatives of Prague and the Danish architectural studio Bjarke Ingels Group signed a contract for the preparation of project documentation for the planned Philharmonic near the Vltavská metro. The architects will now have nine months to finalize the study, in which the public will also be able to participate. According to the June estimate, the construction will cost CZK 9.4 billion. According to the city’s plan, the state has been in place since 2027, it should be completed five years later. The Danish studio succeeded in an international architectural competition organized by Prague. After finalizing the architectural study, the architects will prepare project documentation for obtaining zoning and building permits. The municipality, according to earlier information about co-financing of constructions by the state and the involvement of private investors. Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček said that at the turn of this year, the city could introduce a mechanism for raising private money. According to him, two funds could be created, one for smaller and the other for large investors. “We are registering quite a lot of interest,” added the deputy. He added that the municipality wants to divide the funding into thirds between the city, the state and the private sector. The Vltava Philharmonic is to have three halls – a concert hall for 1800 spectators, a smaller one for chamber music with a capacity of 500 seats and a multifunctional one for other genres and types of events with a capacity of up to 700 people. The construction of the new cultural center is part of the transformation of the Bubny-Zátory locality, where it is planned to create a district for up to 25,000 inhabitants. CTK
