Prague 1 opened a new sports field | PRAGUE 1 | News
For many years, the neglected concrete patch opposite the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Karel Boromejský, which resembled a playground. This space has been transformed into a modern sports ground, which was built here by Prague 1 during the last few months.
“This place was originally a playground as such, there were more or less concrete panels here, but it had not been used for years, and the construction cell that was here is a memory of the previous regime, when there were actually police watching the American embassy. But she had the idea a lot of people, but somehow it didn’t work out. I came up with it more or less in the spring of this year, I invited representatives of local associations and those people who actively live in Hradčany and Malá Strana, I presented the plan to them. It had a positive response, we launched got into it and it can be said that this was created here within four months and I am very happy about it,” said Richard Bureš, councilor of the Prague 1 municipal council.
The municipality is currently looking for a way to operate this sports ground. There are several variants in the game.
“The basic one is that some administrator will come and open it at 8 in the morning and close it at 8 in the evening, so that it is accessible for 12 hours. The second thing is the selection process for the administrator as such, who will operate this “clubhouse” and the toilets, he will have balls and some basic equipment available. But I’m trying, and we already said that during the meeting with the local representatives, that in the future it will be the local associations, which are very active, and the idea is that as a city part, we will also create a kind of reservation system on the website and provide them in such a way that people can really decide which of the locals will more or less play when,” said Richard Bureš, councilor of the Prague 1 municipal council.
For the time being, the playground will operate in so-called temporary operation. It will be accessible between nine and six o’clock. At the same time, the management of the municipal district believes that during the winter it will decide on one of the three mentioned modes of operation, in which it will subsequently operate in the following years.
