Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West presents new GM
Roderick Smith takes over as General Manager of Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West. With his historic hotel as General Manager, the Dutch challenge is taken up at Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West in Sloterdijk.
Roderick Smith is a graduate of the Hotelschool The Hague and has held various management positions in Radisson Hotel Group hotels across Europe. He has been part of the group since 2001 and after various sales roles, he took up his first General Manager position at Park Inn by Radisson Shannon Airport in Ireland. He then led the Park Inn team by Radisson Palace Southend-on-Sea as General Manager during the opening of the hotel, which won several awards, including the Silver Green Tourism Award and the Southend Environmental Awareness award for sustainability efforts.
After 1.5 years leading the Radisson Blu Hotel, Birmingham, Roderick Smith moves to Russia to work as General Manager at Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels in Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg, where he joined 2019 as Cluster General Manager led the two four Park Inn by Radisson Pulkovskaya Hotel & Conference Center and Park Inn by Radisson Pulkovo Airport with a combined inventory of more than 1,000 rooms.
In his new position at Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West, Roderick Smith leads a diverse team. He indicates that his long experience as a manager helps him to successfully lead an international team. “In my work I always look for new driving forces and new opportunities. I like to coach team members to work together in the best possible harmony for success. Work should also be fun. It is great to be at home in my own country for 20 years and to have the opportunity to run this great meetings and events hotel in the capital,” he notes.
Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West is the largest of the 11 hotels of the Radisson Hotel Group in the Netherlands, with 476 rooms and 20 meeting rooms in a special ‘Conference Academy’ that can host events with up to 750 people. Designed by renowned New York designer Karim Rashid, who is also known for his work for the Radisson Hotel Group’s price hotel brand, the hotel is part of the Ven Amsterdam business and entertainment complex, within walking distance of Amsterdam-Amsterdam train station.
