Mitsotakis: Greece is emerging as an inherent power in RES

With his post on social media, Kyriakos Mitsotakis comments on the fact that last Friday, for the first time, the demand for electricity from 11 am to 4 pm was covered 100% by Renewable Energy Sources (RES).

“On October 7, RES covered for the 1st time the entire electricity demand of Greece for 5 hours. An important milestone as Greece is rapidly emerging as a leading power in renewable energy sources – ranked 7th globally in 2021 in solar and wind energy as a share of major electricity generation,” the prime minister wrote in English on Twitter.

It is recalled that on Friday, not only was the demand for electricity covered by RES, but the production exceeded the demand for a while, as according to the data of ADMIE, the production from RES units connected to the High and Ultra High Voltage, moved to levels from 98% to 121%, exceeding the size of the net load on the Transmission System.
