The freight train derailed on Monday after 5 p.m. The locomotive ended up on its side and two tanks also ended up off the tracks. According to earlier assumptions, the track was supposed to be closed until Tuesday morning, according to current assumptions, traffic will be interrupted until Wednesday.
According to the Railway Administration, only two overturned wagons and locomotives remain in Poříčany. The preventive evacuation of residents has begun in the immediate vicinity, and only then will the pumping of benzene into replacement tanks begin. Only then will it be possible to return the train back to the tracks.
Technical pumping will be provided by railway firefighters. “We will be there as a supervisor,” added the spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian fire department.
14 tankers were disconnected and transported from the crashed train in Poříčany at night. Only 2 overturned wagons and a locomotive remain at the site. The priority is the safety of the residents, a preventive evacuation from the surrounding area has begun. After that, the pumping of benzene into replacement tanks will begin.

At around 8 a.m., the departure delay of the Slovak Express to Luhačovice via Pardubice was the longest, by two hours, at Prague’s main railway station. According to the timetable, it was supposed to leave at 6:42. Another Slovak Express, which was supposed to go an hour later, was already canceled completely. The international express train to Košice is also fifty minutes late.
However, the situation is much worse with arrivals. For example, RegioJet from Przemyśl in Poland, which goes via Ostrava, is four hours late. Passengers will have to wait about 30 minutes longer for other connections from Moravia.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Railway Inspectorate, which confirmed on Monday that the train had illegally passed a traffic stop sign. “Other causes and circumstances of extraordinary events are still under investigation,” added Martin Drápal, spokesman for the Railway Inspection.
According to the first estimates, the damage is four million crowns, of which 1.5 million on the track and 2.5 million on the train. Two people who were on the train were slightly injured. The set belongs to the carrier ČD Cargo.
