Dragons brightened the summer sky PRAGUE 18 | News
A beautiful October afternoon wished everyone who came to Letňany to enjoy flying creations of all kinds. The traditional Letňa drakiada brought a variety of experiences to everyone.
“We have over a hundred and twenty kite beginners in all age categories. At the beginning we were a little afraid of the weather, but it worked out in the end. Even the wind has started,” said Iveta Lojková, deputy mayor of Prague 18.
The organizer, i.e. MČ Prague 18, then selected the best among the competitors and gave out prizes. Of course, the most rewards went into the hands of children – even the smallest ones. But the adults also got their way.
“I definitely enjoy the freedom of the kite. Not really, because we have it on a string. But I enjoy watching it here. When everyone released their kites, the sky was full of kites and it was beautiful,” said Vendy Fenclová, winner of the competition in category of adults.
“What do you like best about the Drakiade?”
“I think what I like best is that the dragons fly here and you can see them all in the sky.”
“That we fly a lot of kites and that we’re having a good time here.”
“That I’m first up and the dragon is very handsome.”
“It’s good when there’s a lot of wind and the kites are flying. Here you can see when you turn around that the kites are flying a lot and I like that there’s a nice atmosphere here and it’s just nice.”
Children enjoy flying with purchased kites the most. Own products are few and far between.
“I think it’s because it’s easier. You come to the store, you choose a lot of colorful kites. Today, of course, various fairy tales and heroes fly, so that’s what you can see most on the dragons,” said Iveta Lojková.
“Which do you enjoy more, flying your kite or the one you’re going to buy?”
“Probably more with this one I have here in the sky because it flies nicely.”
“We bought it today.”
“When you do it, it’s more fun, you care more about it and you try harder to make it fly. When it’s bought, you buy a dragon and it’s over. You just say, fly, and if you don’t fly, I’ll sell you or something like that.”
The organizers of the Letňa dragon festival also thought of those who might get tired of the dragons. They could have fun on the giant trampoline or try their skills in the art workshop.
