RBK’s Danes respond to future questions:
He has become one of Kjetil Rekdal’s most trusted men, Victor Jensen. 21 starts, four scores and two assists are the summary of his first seven months in a Rosenborg uniform.
He services at Lerkendal, however, run on borrowed time. After the season, Trønder’s loan agreement with Ajax expires and Danes is scheduled to return to the Netherlands.
– I’ve said it a couple of times, but I don’t quite know what’s happening now. The agreement is a one-year loan agreement. Right now it doesn’t look like… or right now I don’t know what’s going on, I’ll have to find out during the holidays, says Jensen to TV 2.
“Everyone” wants a bit of the two-goal scorer after the match against Vålerenga on Sunday evening. The 22-year-old strolls around the press area for well over half an hour after the end of the match.
Score until Enga got banked:
The big question is whether Rosenborg is able to keep its midfield jewel.
– It is difficult to say. It will come down to economics, of course. What do we say, what does Ajax say, what does Victor say, and what can we possibly contribute to such a package. We actually don’t know, so we’ll just have to wait and see, says Kjetil Rekdal.
– You’re trying to catch me
TV 2 vet at Rosenborg wants to keep the Dane at Lerkendal. The price tag on the man who in his time left FC Copenhagen and Denmark in favor of Ajax, for close to 30 million kroner according to the Danish newspaper BTwill probably be too high.
Thus, a new loan agreement is the most likely.
– I have to talk to Ajax and my agents, to hear what they think. Of course, it’s not just up to me, so we’ll see what happens.
– If it were up to you, where would you like to play next year?
– You try to trap me with something or other, laughs Jensen, before he elaborates: But it’s difficult to say, I don’t know what the alternatives are. I don’t know what Ajax is thinking. I have been very satisfied with being there and of course I would have played more matches for Ajax if I had had the opportunity. At the same time, I’m happy to be here, but I don’t know what the possibility is.
Looking on another shelf
Rekdal has been clear that Jensen is a player he wants to keep, but with the lack of European money, there are economic downturns at Lerkendal.
Precisely for this reason, a top three position, which will give European games, is more important than ever, according to the RBK boss.
– Yes, I think so, absolutely. You feel the distance, especially in terms of finances. We are looking for a shelf where the players can break through or are in the process of breaking through, while Bodø/Glimt spend perhaps DKK 100-150 million on player purchases. They bring home a Patrick Berg, finished player, they bring home Marius Lode. We are nowhere near being able to think of such a thing at all, explains Rekdal.
However, the 53-year-old points out that Trønder have been successful in the transfer market this season.
So good that the gold is what applies next season.
– We have a humanity that has the potential to make a big splash through the experience they get this year and with a new winter. To be ready to “fight” for the gold from day one next year, that is the ultimate goal for everyone here.
Then it remains to be seen whether Victor Jensen will be part of that “fight” or not.
– As I said, it has been fantastic to be here. I have learned an incredible amount and I really appreciate everything I have taken with me. We’ll see, concludes the Dane with a smile.
