The Dijon cyclo-crossman, Axel Ottiger, does it again at Celsoy
Already winner last year on the same circuit of Celsoy, the Haut-Marnais licensed at SCO Dijon, Axel Ottiger, did it again, Sunday, October 9. Without any real competition, he flew over the event to complete the 50 minutes in freewheel.
“When I arrived in Celsoy, I wasn’t sure where I was after two weeks without training and knee tendonitis. Axel Ottiger now knows a little more: his recent troubles are just bad memories and above all the feelings are excellent at the start of the cyclo-cross season. “That’s pretty good for an opening. It must be said that the circuit is perfect for my size, with relief and a lot of reminders: I love it! »
And to see him fly over the event, it is clear that with the great efforts made to dominate the competition in this way, the young Haut-Marnais (19 years old) nevertheless knows how to take pleasure in it. Like a last lap completed at a slightly less intensive pace, as if eager to savor this victory that no one could dispute.
The FSGT national cyclo-cross champion, Cyrille Fretz (41, MJC Buhl) did try to keep up with his young rival, but his stubbornness only lasted barely two laps. “As soon as I warmed up, I knew that I didn’t have the legs to hope for anything. In this context, having succeeded in defending my second place is already a victory. I made great efforts on the reminders and tried to regain my strength in the technical passages to manage this podium as well as possible. »
Meanwhile, in front, Axel Ottiger, he knew that only a technical incident could thwart his ambitions. Widening the gap over the minutes, the Dijonnais had no problem. “I will try to work well to gain strength over the weeks and months. There is already the French Cup which is looming from October 23 in Nommay (Doubs), which will be my first objective. We’ll see then. »
See you in Langres!
Why not see him again, from November 6, during the Remparts cyclo-cross in Langres? The next round in Haute-Marne where most of the Celsoy players should also meet, including the locals won by the third in Sunday’s event, Guillaume Grandjean (VC Montigny RL). The super-veteran duo, Philippe Chambrey (VC Montigny RL) and Jean-Pierre Viry (CB 52), on the podium at Celsoy behind the Dijonnais Sylvain Buffet, will certainly want to put in an extra pedal stroke. Like the juniors and cadets, where Luka Poisot (SCO Dijon) and Augustin Lecomte (VC Langres) respectively dominated the first event this weekend.
The season is spawned…
