Corona: 10,897 new infections, 2,194 people in the hospital
The seven-day incidence was 1,080.2 cases per 100,000 population. There are currently 142,673 people actively contracting the disease, up 3,183 from the day before. The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Tyrol with 1,257.4. Then come Upper Austria, Salzburg and Carinthia (1,220.5, 1,216.6 and 1,127.8 respectively). Lower Austria (1,064.2), Burgenland (1,033.6), Styria (1,003.7), Vienna (958) and Vorarlberg (890.9) follow.
The current figures for Austria (as of October 09, 2022): 10,897 new infections. 142,673 active cases. 5,252,058 confirmed cases. 5,088,561 recovered. 20,824 deaths. 2,194 hospitalized, 98 of them intensive care.
The number of infections is as follows: In the federal capital Vienna, 1,934 new cases of corona were reported within 24 hours. There were 2,021 new cases in Lower Austria, 2,285 in Upper Austria, 569 in Salzburg and 939 in Tyrol. There were 387 new infections in Vorarlberg, 738 in Carinthia, 1,663 in Styria and 361 in Burgenland.
58 percent with active vaccination protection
As far as vaccination progress in the local population is concerned: Yesterday, Saturday, 9,453 vaccinations were carried out, of which 8,378 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th and every further vaccination dose). 5,264,929 people and thus 58.3 percent of Austrians are validly vaccinated according to the recommendation of the National Vaccination Committee (NIG). A total of 833,205 people have received a booster vaccination so far.
Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, there have already been 5,252,058 confirmed cases in Austria. Since then, 5,088,561 people have recovered. So far, 20,824 Austrians have died from or as a result of Covid-19.
