Canepa upset despite successful coach search. “Maybe I’ll lose the desire to pay wages.”
FC Zurich has apparently struck gold when looking for a coach. As President Ancillo Canepa said in an interview with Blue Sport, Franco Foda’s successor should be announced on Monday.
Interim coach Genesio Colatrella, who has been in charge of the team since Franco Foda’s dismissal in September, is still on the sidelines for the game against FC Winterthur on Sunday (see the match report). Most recently, however, Colatrella also suffered a hearty 5-0 defeat against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League.
The defeat still annoys Canepa enormously three days later. “I was very, very upset with the performance of individual players. I got particularly upset after the game when it was said again that the attitude was lacking or that you have to show more commitment. I can not comprehend that.”
Canepa adds: «I came to the conclusion that at the end of the month I might say that I lack the commitment and desire to pay the wages. That was profoundly annoying.”
New coach introduced on Monday?
After all, the search for a coach at FCZ seems to have been successful in the last few days. “I think we can communicate something tomorrow,” announced Canepa in an interview with blue Sport on Sunday.
A new man is said to be on the sidelines in the second leg against PSV Eindhoven. «The probability is high. We have found a coach who has to help us at short notice. But it is also important for us that we can plan the future of FC Zurich with him in the long term. »
