An amazing number of programs and locations await you at the event, but in the Museum of Ethnography you can see all the award-winning works, and even the Museum of Ethnography itself, until the end of the month.
Budapest Design Week traditionally starts with the presentation of the Hungarian Design Awards and the Design Management Award. How did Kadarka get among the award winners, and what (really) gastronomic products were recognized? The most prestigious domestic design award has been presented for the 43rd year. The six Hungarian Design Awards product, plan, visual communication and student work categories, but due to the strong competition in the product and visual communication categories two prizes each voted by the evaluation committee. The professional jury evaluated the submitted entries based on formal quality, novelty, competitiveness, user-friendly design and sustainability approach.
The special prize winners
Special awards were also presented this year: the special award of the State Secretariat for Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation Annabella Hevesi Dedas considered it a collection of interior seating furniture. The special award of the Ministry’s Deputy State Secretariat for Higher Education Katalin Pataki submitted in the student category Communicative was awarded a game therapy device competition. Special award of the Hungarian Design Council Zsófia Zsuzsanna Sinkovits entered in the student category Geoform collection, respectively Celestial Marcell submitted in product category If Jewel received by his jewelry brand. National Office of Intellectual Property Dr. Péter Lelkes, Zsolt Papp, Zoltán Bálint, Balázs Vigh and Peter Hory joint work, the IP-based, Full-HD touchscreen audio-video conference device awarded.

MFD winners
THE product category Nieto Ramon Cat magnet called a special magnetic release device used for fishing and Ferenc Laufer Relief won by its stove tile collection, which combines the advantages of high-tech heating devices and traditional tile stoves to create a future-proof, complex stove tile system realized in production.
THE plan category award a Remion Design Kft. could take over Head Link compact dual-channel EEG and skin resistance measurement device. On the head, it confirms the data that can be used in healthcare and sends data about brain and circulation activities. One of the novelties of the design is realized in that it works compatible with all currently available EEG software as universal hardware.
Visual communication won the category Fortepan masters volume, Tekla Róza Szilágyi, Szabolcs Barakonyi, Péter Salát Zalán and György Simó his work, which is based on the widely deservedly recognized Fortepan, a Miklós Tamási a unique private photo archive founded by Szabolcs Barakonyi’s subjective but conceptual selection unusually focuses not on the historical document value, but on the artistic quality reflected in the images. Oskar Boskovitz Kadarka its letter family does not add to the range of geometric address letters that are fashionable today, but belongs to the traditional, open-type bread letters, suitable for reading long texts.
THE student category Zsófia Berta Ujváry (Moholy-Nagy University of Arts) Homage to Rudolf Ujvary was won by his work entitled The textile collection is also family identity care spanning several generations, as the creator uses the buildings designed by his grandfather as a source of inspiration.
The Design Management Award
Since 2009, the Hungarian Design Council has been awarding the Design Management Award to organizations that apply the design management approach excellently. This year István Mórucz small business, a Paniolium earned the 2022 Design Management Award with its value-creating self-identity and sensitivity to form. The operation and spirit of the fruit processing manufactory in Panyola is the embodiment of a free level of design thinking, in which creative thinking and inventive implementation are combined with a sure sense of style.
THE Co & Co Designcommunication Kft. offered by the Herend Porcelain Manufactory and the National Intellectual Property Office in the Special Award for Excellence received. The company has been an active player in the domestic creative industry for more than twenty years, and is also listed internationally. Their activities have been recognized with dozens of domestic and international design awards. The one from Budafoki received a certificate of recognition CULTIC contemporary art scene as well as Peter Csányi and Ben the Lamb his clothing brand that promotes literature, equipped with its own graphics, a Vates.
Design and architecture in all quantities until October 16
Budapest Design Week awaits visitors from the 7th to the 16th, on the 19th of October this year, at exhibitions, lectures, workshops, building tours and studio visits around the intersections of architecture and design. The central location of the festival is the new building of the Ethnographic Museum.
