A preventive action against arthritis is taking place in Prague. He advises whether to go to the doctor | Health | News | Prague Gossip
As part of World Arthritis Day, a preventive event is taking place on Palacké náměstí on Saturday. As early as 10 a.m., those interested can fill out a short questionnaire that will tell them whether they may suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and whether they should discuss their problems with a doctor. The main motif of this year’s edition is hands, the entire event is organized by the patient organization Revma Liga Czech Republic.
Three questions are enough to determine the risk
“With the help of simple answers to prepared questions, people can find out if they are at risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. If they answer yes to more than three questions, we should consider seeing a doctor. They can also discuss the test results with the rheumatologist, who will be on site,” explains David Cross from the patient organization Revma Liga CR.
Rheumatoid arthritis increases mainly with joint pain and stiffness, often only in the small joints of the hands. “They are really the body most often and the most affected organ in. If the joints are painful, swollen and stiff for more than half an hour in the morning, it is a problem. We can notice this especially on the fingers that are closest to the palm,” explained the director of the Prague Institute of Rheumatology in a press release Karel Pavelka.
The event will be attended by doctors, patients and well-known personalities
In such cases, people should first visit a general practitioner, who will recommend a visit to a rheumatologist. “If the patient does not start treatment, they can develop irreversible joint changes, for example in the wrist. This then limits the patient in everyday life, but often also in work, when he loses his independence and ability to apply it.” Pavelka pointed out.
World Arthritis Day with participating doctors, famous personalities and a whole range of patients. Actor Jakub Žáček will accompany the event. “Meeting and mutual support are of great importance. Patients will understand that they are not alone in their illness. We have an excellent health care system, but we still need to talk about pitfalls and errors in the system so that patients have the best possible one that will best lead to remission, that is, the complete disappearance of the symptoms of the disease,” she said in a press release Edita Müllerovápresident of the association Revma Liga CR.
