Sergei Marchenko: Putin is the trigger that the Russian people pulled with their chauvinism
The world would be a better place without Russia. The unfortunate truth is that it was not Putin who attacked Ukraine, but the Russian people. It’s them, all these cute gardeners, dog lovers, cyclists, fishermen, accountants, gamers and other communities sitting on the Internet and fasting about peace, kindness, their hobbies elbow deep in our blood.
It is they, these dear and kind people, who sincerely do not know how we can exist without them and kill us very little for our own good.
Putin is just chickens, which the Russian people complained about with their great-power chauvinism, long-term thirst to show Ukrainians their place, hatred for all “non-Russians”.
Do not console yourself with the illusion that the key to victory is Putin personally. This is not true. Putin’s death could force this successor to end the war to consolidate his power, better prepare, and then attack Ukraine again anyway. For with the death of Putin, the Moscow people will not go anywhere – dark, envious, embittered, chauvinistic. They will be just as eager to destroy us as they are now. With surprised smirks, why don’t we understand them.
