We are prepared for the winter, Hungary’s energy supply is secured
We are prepared for the winter, Hungary’s energy supply is secured – Tamás Menczer, State Secretary responsible for bilateral development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (KKM) announced on Thursday in Cegléd.
At the inauguration of the new factory building of Infineon Technologies Cegléd Kft., built with HUF 6.4 billion government support, the State Secretary reminded that Hungary has a long gas purchase agreement with Russia.
good, Turkish Stream enables gas to arrive in Hungary via Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia, it is now the only gas pipeline that operates at 100 percent capacity, he noted.
The third reason why our energy supply is secure is the gas reservoirs, which already account for 46 percent of Hungary’s annual consumption, so the European average is 26 percent.
All this means that there is enough gas in the reservoirs for 93 winter days, so that the supply is continuous. If we only look at residential gas consumption, this amount would be enough for 193 winter days – of which there are none.” – said Tamás Menczer.
He also spoke about the fact that we are living in an age of crises, which appear one after the other or even parallel to each other. In relation to crises, the Hungarian government has always provided its answers and solutions, and it has always turned out that the Hungarian solutions work.
Tamás Menczer stated: regarding the war, we said from the beginning that we were on the side of peace. We support and advocate for peace negotiations and an immediate ceasefire. As a result of the responses to the war and the sanctions, Europe is also facing an economic and energy crisis. We were skeptical about sanctions, because historical experience always shows that they do not achieve the desired effect. But in the field of energy development, we said that sanctions should not be applied.
As he said, today European people and businesses are paying a penalty premium for energy, so Russia, hit by sanctions, is getting record revenues. If there were no sanctions, the price of energy and the rate of inflation would be halved in a very short time. Hungary’s goal is to make the European energy shortage and recession a local exception – by who is the state secretary.
Tamás Menczer said at the handover of the new factory building of semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies Cegléd Kft., with a total value of HUF 31.9 billion, that the investment will create 275 new jobs.
The company produces a product in Hungary that is in demand worldwide, as the product produced here is almost 100 percent ready for export, said the state secretary. He added that the company’s place in the global economy is well characterized by the fact that in the 2020-2021 business year, the group’s net sales were more than 11 billion euros and it employs 50,000 employees.
Tamás Menczer called German-Hungarian economic cooperation a success story. He pointed out that 6,000 German companies in Hungary today employ 300,000 people as the largest foreign investor community.
