Today’s Eurowings strike – one flight canceled in Prague, all but one flight canceled in Vienna
06.10.2022 – Europe
Eurowings has announced that, despite today’s strike by the pilots associated with the German union Vereinigung Cockpit, they will at least try to keep the originally known flights in operation. Today’s strike has a diametric impact on departures from Prague and on departures from Vienna. While in Prague the only departure at 16:15 to Düsseldorf is canceled today due to the strike, in Vienna all flights operated by Eurowings are canceled today, with the exception of the departure at 20:50 to Stuttgart.
Specifically, today’s departures look as follows:
PRAGUE
- operated: 06:00 Malaga
- operated: 12:40 Stockholm
- operated: 13:10 Heraklion
- cancelled: 16:15 Dusseldorf
- operated: 17:30 Dusseldorf
- operated: 18:10 Copenhagen
VIENNA
- cancelled: 08:40 Stuttgart
- cancelled: 09:00 Cologne
- cancelled: 09:05 Hamburg
- cancelled: 16:00 Cologne
- cancelled: 19:00 Dusseldorf
- cancelled: 20:10 Cologne
- cancelled: 20:10 Dusseldorf
- cancelled: 20:35 Hamburg
- operated: 20:50 Stuttgart
The reason behind the smaller number of departures from Prague is probably the interference that Eurowings has its base here and its Czech crew has its own working and salary conditions, which are different from the German ones. In the past, German unions have also criticized the salary conditions of the Prague base as wage dumping towards employees in Germany. However, as we all know, the differences between Germany and the Czech Republic still remain significant. In addition, they should have weight if these crews fly on flights serving mainly German airports and if the base in Prague has more than 3 aircraft…
