The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
“MAEIE has not recognized, will not recognize, nor will it recognize the so-called plebiscites and condemns in the strongest terms the attempt to illegitimately annex the occupied territories of Ukraine, a fact that goes against all the principles of international law. Our country’s diplomacy reaffirms its consistent support for Ukraine’s efforts to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and urges Russia to stop military aggression against our neighbors,” reads a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau.
At the end of September, the Republic of Moldova strongly condemned the so-called plebiscites illegally organized by the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian occupied regions of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Luhansk, “which constitute a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of international law. These pseudo-plebiscites constitute a false pretext for the forcible annexation of some sovereign territories of Ukraine. Thus, our country does not recognize the development of these illegal actions and reiterates consistent support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders”, declared the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration from Chisinau.
