Florence. Mimma Dardano (President of the Commission for Social Policies and Health, Health and Social Services): “With the Montedomini Village a different vision of how the world of the elderly is conceived”
“With the Montedomini Village we want to give an important response to the city and to the families that have changed after the pandemic. The Montedomini Village – explains the president of the Commission for social policies and health, health and social services Mimma Dardano – will see the construction of 40 apartments for the elderly, in an area of the structure currently unused. A path that, starting right from the village, provides for a profound restructuring of services – starting from the existing social and health structures – and the creation of a co-housing for frail elderly in a portion of the Montedomini area that has not been used for some time (access via Tuar). Not only co-housing, the goal is to provide all the essential social and socio-health related services for the elderly, in a place that is not purely for care, without entrusting the frail elderly to structures, but leaving them in their own home without being alone. In short, a housing response but also of socialization and all-round prevention for the elderly. The managers of Montedomini – adds the president Dardano – have illustrated the origin of the project and the difficulties they have in keeping the fees low both now, as RSA and for when the Montedomini Village will be built. A structure that presents itself in all its originality. It is a hybrid; a company that has its own autonomy (ASP) and its employees and which is part of the companies controlled by the Municipality of Florence. To underline – concludes a president Mimma Dardano – the different vision of how the world of the elderly is conceived in Montedomini ”. (spa)
