Drivers started switching to winter tires PRAGUE | News
Some drivers change their tires already at the end of summer, others wait for the first snowflakes. The obligation to change to winter tires is defined by the Road Traffic Act. He says that drivers are obliged to use winter tires in the season from November 1 to March 31. But it is not a dogma. It depends on the surroundings.
The law remembers the predictability of the weather. If it will be a warm autumn, winter tires are not necessary from November 1.
So if the frosty weather doesn’t hit even in November, you don’t have to change your car’s shoes and then you don’t even face a fine. However, for the sake of safety, it is generally recommended to switch to winter tires when temperatures are below 7°C for a long time. With such properties, winter tires show better properties than summer ones.
If you do not comply with the obligation to use winter tires, you risk a fine of up to 2,000 crowns. Although the offense is not reflected in the points system, more expensive complications can occur if you are responsible for a traffic accident on summer tires.
Experts also advise how to deal with a skid if we get into it on the road.
But theory is one thing and practice is another. PIf you are a beginner or just not sure behind the wheel yet, sign up for a skid school, where they can prepare you for a similar situation in the best way.
