The Netherlands imports more transport • TTM.nl
Dutch companies and consumers imported in the first six months of 2022 worth 22.7 billion euros worth of transport services from abroad: almost 32 percent more than the first half of 2021. The export value of transport services increased by more than 27 percent to 27 , 9 billion euros. The increase was partly driven by rising transport prices. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this on the basis of new preliminary figures on international trade in services.
Due to the sizeable transport sector, transport services form a large part of the Dutch service trade: they form the second largest import and export category. Transport services include the transport of passengers and freight by sea, road, rail, air and pipeline, among others, and payment services such as the storage, loading and unloading of freight. It is import if Dutch companies of consumer transport services remove persons from foreign companies. If Dutch companies of persons provide transport services to foreign companies of consumers, then it is export. The transaction with a foreign party is important and not in which country the performance of the service is performed.
Transport services grow faster than total Dutch service trade
After a major contraction in trade in 2020, imports and exports will again be above the pre-corona level of 2019 in 2022, detailed questions and prices. While the value of total services imports was 14 percent higher in the first half of 2022 than in the same period in 2019, the import value of transport services was 37 percent above the level of 2019. Also, total exports and those of transport services are now well above. the pre-corona level.
Import of maritime services more than 93 percent higher than before corona
Road transport, maritime shipping and aviation are the largest import and export categories within transport services. Imports of maritime services have grown in comparison to the pre-corona period. In the first half of 2022, the import value here at 5.5 billion euros was almost twice as high as in the first six months of 2019. The import value also increased in road transport, namely by more than 33 percent. Imports of most other transport services increased less sharply. Imports of aviation services did not exceed the pre-corona level of 2019 in the first half of 2022.
Soaring fuel prices and problems such as the once Seen in the Suez Canal and problems in the Suez Canal and the problems in major port cities have driven the prices for strong transport in the past two years.
